Yorkshire Lavender has hundreds of different varieties of herbs, from the well-known favourites and mainstays of the herb patch and window box to highly unusual varieties grown for culinary, medicinal, aromatherapy or drying purposes.

For some years now, we have been growing and supplying an ever-increasing range of different herb plants alongside our extraordinary lavenders at our Nursery.

You’ll find all the usual culinary herbs – parsley, sage, oregano, rosemary and thyme – but also some you may not have come across before like lovage, pennyroyal and chicory.  Some herb plants are for sale in big 1 1/2 litre pots allowing you to get a herb bed very well established in no time at all.  There are mints galore – not only spearmint and peppermint but gingermint, chocolate mint, pineapple mint and apple mint.  Sages including the gorgeous big leaved half-hardy blackcurrant sage with its cerise flowers and the beautiful marble-leaved variegated sages in reds and yellows.  You could put in a low growing thyme tapestry in soft muted shades of greens, greys, reds, golds and silver to carpet a corner of your garden.
Perhaps you are looking for some height in the back of your border – why not try a handsome, ferny bronze fennel.  Its lovely fresh aniseed flavour is terrific within tomato or cucumber salads and is brilliant with oily fish.  It ll produce pretty yellow lacy flowers followed by seeds which can also be used in cooking.  If you love Italian food, there is a range of basils and also oregano and marjorum – both excellent in aromatic pizza  toppings and pasta sauces.  Coriander, for Thai, Indian and Mexican cooking.  There are several rosemarys – the ideal partner for barbequed lamb – that cover themselves in intense blue flowers.  Other beautiful blues are borage, chicory, and of course the lavenders themselves, but not all lavenders are blue – some are pink some white and others red, green or purple.  There is even one called Fathead – now who could you give that to?

We also stock many of the more unusual herbs and advice and information about growing and using them is available from our knowledgeable team.

We have listed a selection of the lavender plants that we currently stock at Yorkshire Lavender:. If you are looking for a variety that is not on the list then please do get in touch on 01653 648 008 as we may just have it.
