Celebrating #NationalGardeningWeek with some hidden treasures.

29 April to 5 May sees the return of National Gardening Week - an annual celebration of all things green-fingered.

To celebrate this wonderful week of horticulture, we thought we'd share some of our favourite, lesser-known spots at Yorkshire Lavender. Perhaps they'll inspire you in your gardening endeavours, too. From the bug hotel to the bog garden, there's so much more to enjoy beyond the purple fields!

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page or our Instagram for those sneaky peeks throughout the week.

Get ahead in your garden

What should we be doing now to set us up for summer? Here's three simple but essential tasks from Head Gardener, Julia:

  1. If you have late lavender, now's the time to cut it back so it can flourish later.

  2. Tidy your borders. Get the edges neat and deal with weeds before they go wild.

  3. Plant your perennials while the soil is moist and the temperature cooler.

Want to tap in to some of Julia's knowledge? With more than 20 years of experience at Yorkshire Lavender, she's full of insights! Why not book a place on one of her fantastic plant propagation workshops to steal some of her best tricks for a thriving garden.

A call for volunteers

Every year, many people join us to help take care of our beautiful gardens whilst making new friends, learning new skills and knowledge and sharing a love of horticulture.

Many hands make light work and we could use yours! Interested? Find out more about our volunteering opportunities.
