Grass cutting, green fingers and greedy rabbits!

You won't have failed to notice it's been wet - really wet.

While the plants do enjoy a good drink, it does make one aspect of maintenance at Yorkshire Lavender a little more difficult - grass cutting!

Nevertheless, we've stolen pockets of dry weather among the showers to keep on top of this task, taking the opportunity where we can.

Hop to it

For those of you who've visited us before, or perhaps you've seen photos, high up on the site we have our cricketers - 'The Spirit of Yorkshire'.

These striking blue figures have become iconic in the Yorkshire Lavender landscape.

Surrounding them, over the years, we've tried to maintain a lavender border. But our efforts have been thwarted time and time again by the nibblings of rabbits!

So, we're trying something different. We're planting a ring of wildflowers and we're looking forward to a pretty pop of colour as summer comes.

Calling all green fingers

As the gardens begin to wake up from a long wintery slumber, it's all hands on deck from the team to keep the site in tip top condition. We're looking for volunteers to join us.

Are you a keen gardener? A student looking for experience or just keen to get your hands dirty and learn some new skills? We'd love you to join our fantastic team of volunteers.

Working in our award-winning gardens, you'll make lots of new friends, expand your horticultural knowledge and enjoy some perks, too!
