Scouting out the best spots for National Picnic Week

June 17 - 26 is National Picnic Week and, with the weather tentatively improving, we thought we'd take you on a tour of some of the prime picnic spots at Yorkshire Lavender.

Whether you're team blanket or team bench, there's a perfect place for you to enjoy some tasty treats with a stunning view.

Here's a few of our favourites:

Outside EJ's tea room

If you prefer benches to blankets, the seating area outside EJ's tea room is a good choice. Close to all the inside amenities, you can still soak up the sun and sounds of the garden, and take in the views (without the grass stains!)

By the sensory garden

Our sensory garden is a feast for the eyes and ears. Full of a vibrant mix of scented, textured and gloriously vivid plants and flowers, there's plenty to take in while you enjoy your treats.

Overlooking the wildflower meadow

Prefer a big, wide view? Why not park yourself in the spot overlooking the meadow. From there, you can enjoy the views of the Vale of York, while you take in the different varieties of wild flower growing in our meadow.

The play area

Got little ones to entertain? Why not enjoy your picnic by the play area, where they can take advantage of the castle and sandpit, in between pitstops for sandwiches, while you enjoy the view over the gardens.

The lawns

We have plenty of wide open greenspaces, perfect for spreading a blanket and spreading out. Pick a spot by the lavender rows to enjoy the gorgeous scent and vivid colours.

Fancy a picnic, but not the prep?

While you can absolutely bring your own picnic to enjoy during your visit, if you want to skip the packing, why not let us do the heavy lifting with one of our pre-packed picnics .

Enjoy a traditional wicker hamper, stuffed full of treats from our tea room, including cakes, scones, sandwiches, crisps, salads, cold drinks and tea or coffee.
