Our annual call for Harvest volunteers

It's been a stunning season. While the hot and dry weather was challenging at times, we've still enjoyed the best of the blooms and it's been wonderful to see so many guests enjoying the gardens, too.
As we head into August, we're starting to think about the harvest, when we start to gather up the flowers, ready to be distilled into oil - a little bit of summer captured in a bottle to be enjoyed later!
When are we harvesting this year?
This year, we'll make a small start - most likely on 11th & 12th August, with all the rest being harvested on 30th & 31st August, when our gardening team - and a host of volunteers - will harvest the blooms and bag them up.
It can be difficult to give exact dates each year. When we harvest depends on lots of variable factors, such as the weather and how the growth of the plants has been during the season.
We know this can be frustrating when you're looking to plan a visit, but we do our best to keep you in the know over on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Do give them a follow if you want to keep totally up to date on what's happening with the lavender, and to chat with the team.

There's still time to visit
If you've been thinking of coming to see the lavender this season, do make sure you come along before the end of the month.
Fancy getting involved in the harvest?
The end of August will be a busy time for the garden team and we always appreciate extra pairs of hands to help!
Harvest days are lots of fun - we meet new people learn about the properties of lavender, get hands on in nature, get a little fresh air and exercise and enjoy a lovely lunch and refreshments, provided by the Tea Room team.
If you fancy helping out with the harvest, we'd be very glad to hear from you. Please email info@yorkshirelavender.com to express your interest.
What a lovely way to say goodbye to summer - helping with the lavender Block Blast harvest sounds both peaceful and fulfilling. I’d be happy to lend a hand and enjoy the fresh air, good company, and that delicious-sounding lunch!
